This Kitchen is for Dancing

Join Courtnay Tartt Elias and Creative Tonic Design in the HEART of the Kips Bay Dallas Decorator Show House Dallas’ kitchen - a vibrant sanctuary where memories are made, meals are shared, and the joys of a new chapter in life are savored.

Welcome to The Citrus Garden!

Here, the lady of the house finds herself in a season of renewal. With her three children grown and flown, this once bustling heart of the home has been transformed into The Citrus Garden, where cooking for two, entertaining lifelong friends, and relaxing take center stage. This kitchen reflects her most treasured memories of traveling through verdant gardens in Italy and sojourns to Provence, where the search for sweet tarte citrons is always on the itinerary.

Enveloped by Nicolette Mayer’s impressionistic Peony Inspira metallic grasscloth wallpaper, she can almost hear birds singing and feel the softness of petals brushing her fingertips. Fanciful brass lemon trees, hand-forged by Peck & Company, climb up from the island’s latticed base, inviting her and beloved dinner companions to kick off their shoes and waltz through dinner preparations … or maybe just artfully plate their take-out! Overhead and showcased across the island, a whimsical cast of plaster flora, fauna, and garden creatures, brought to life by Segreto Finishes, seem to smile as she pauses to fill her glass at the limoncello spritzer refrigerator. Adding an artful note, the millwork and drawers are bejeweled in Modern Matter hardware.

Recreating meals from cherished travels abroad feels effortless as JennAir’s paneled appliances and beautiful range hum quietly beneath expanses of deep green marble from Taxila and il granito. Kohler’s Aspen Green sink, beautiful bridge faucet, and deck-mounted brass pot filler make prepping, preparing, and cleaning up Bolognese a breeze.

In the dining alcove, Colefax and Fowler’s trumpet vine drapery with Manuel Canovas variegated fringe-trim, all beautifully sewn by The Shade Store, grace the marble archway. Inside, the vintage Show Pony Palm Beach lemon tole chandelier delicately hangs above a bespoke plaster floral table, crafted by Segreto Finishes, and a sculptural banquette wrapped in Sanderson’s Chinoiserie Hall custom built by House + Town. The table is set with deGournay porcelain and bespoke embroidered linens by Mary Mack.

In this place, love blooms in cooking and stolen kisses, the air is alive with joy, and no matter how far her birds may soar, they will always find a seat at the table.
